Pyriftalid is a pyrimidinylthiobenzoate herbicide. It inhibits acetolactate synthase (ALS), stopping branched-chain amino acid synthesis and halting cell division in target weeds. It selectively controls grass weeds and sedges in direct-seeded and transplanted rice fields. Its chemical structure features a dimethoxypyrimidinylthio group attached to a substituted benzoate.
