Salbutamol (albuterol) is a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist used as a bronchodilator for asthma and COPD. It relaxes bronchial smooth muscle through cAMP-mediated signalling and is also abused as a repartitioning agent, for which reason it is banned for use in food animals in China and the EU.
