Sulcotrione is a triketone systemic herbicide. It selectively inhibits 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), blocking carotenoid biosynthesis and causing photo-oxidative bleaching in target weeds. It controls annual broadleaf weeds and grass species in corn and sugarcane. Its structure contains a benzoyl-cyclohexanedione core substituted with a chlorine and methylsulfonyl group.
